The Institute of Polish Culture (IKP) is part of the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw and an important centre for the study of culture. The IKP's faculty members and students engage in comprehensive and interdisciplinary anthropological and historical-cultural research in sub-fields such as gender and queer studies, visual studies, performance studies, and memory studies. The diverse research areas are grounded in the anthropological understanding of culture and an interest in the communication aspects of cultural practices and cultural media – words, performances, images – analyzed in their different historical and technological modalities.
The Institute of Polish Culture offers B.A. and M.A. studies in Cultural Studies and Social Arts. Our Cultural Studies program is based on interconnecting lines of inquiry: one focusing on anthropology and the theory of culture, the other on Polish cultural history. The Social Arts programme combines a theoretical approach with practical workshops and training, offering tools for cultural and artistic engagement with local communities.
